You are going to fall. I guarantee it.
You are going to fall--as a person, spouse, boss, employee and follower of Jesus. But this is not pessimism. This is realism. If you want to become a better leader, you will fall more.
That's just how things are, and reality is our friend.
However, leaders don't stay down, they keep getting up.
When the bank account is too low, they attack the problem. When they've done something to hurt someone, they do all they can to make it right. When they fall, they get up again.
As scripture testifies in Proverbs 24.15-16 (Message):
Don’t interfere with good people’s lives;
don’t try to get the best of them.
No matter how many times you trip them up,
God-loyal people don’t stay down long;
Soon they’re up on their feet,
while the wicked end up flat on their faces.
Proverbs 24.16 for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,
but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.
So here I go again attempting to remind myself about the leader I want to be. And remember, Jesus fell too. He fell beneath the weight of the cross and God sent him relief. Perhaps God is overwhelming you so He can send someone to your aid. Just remember, he got up again. So can we!
